Mastercard at Slamz
By Elin Norrgård, casino analyst — updated August 2026
On paper Mastercard looks identical to its rival: €20 in, €25 out, instant deposits, payouts in one to three business days, no charge from the operator. In daily use the differences are real but narrow, and they come from two places — the payout technology behind the scenes and the way individual issuers write their gambling policy.
Making a deposit
Pick Mastercard in the cashier, enter the card number, expiry and security code, then approve the payment through your bank's authentication step. The balance moves within seconds. Nothing about the card is stored by the casino itself; the processor holds a token, which is why you re-enter the CVV each time even on a saved card.
- Open the cashier and select Mastercard, minimum €20.
- Enter the card details and the amount you want to add.
- Approve the Identity Check prompt in your banking app.
- Start playing — the credit is immediate or the payment has failed outright.
How Mastercard Send changes the payout
Mastercard's push-payment product, Mastercard Send, was built to move money to a card rather than take it from one, and it is the rail behind a card withdrawal here. Where an issuer participates fully, funds can appear on the card within hours rather than days — genuinely faster than the equivalent Visa credit in several of the payouts we have timed. Where the issuer does not participate, the transaction falls back to a conventional settlement and the familiar one-to-three business days apply. You cannot tell from the outside which camp your bank is in; the first payout tells you, and it stays consistent afterwards.
The minimum payout is €25, the weekly ceiling €5,000, and the money must go back to the card that funded the balance up to the deposited amount. If the card has been reissued with a new number since your deposit, tell support before you request the payout rather than after — Mastercard Send follows the card, not the account, and a closed number simply fails.
Reading a decline
Card declines carry a reason code, and although the casino only ever sees a truncated version, the pattern is usually diagnosable from your side. A hard decline that arrives instantly, every time, on every amount is issuer policy against gambling merchants and no amount of retrying will change it. A decline that appears only above a certain amount is a spending or single-transaction limit. One that appears sporadically is fraud scoring reacting to a new merchant, and it often clears itself on the second attempt from the same device and location.
Issuer policy is where Mastercard and Visa genuinely diverge for a lot of players: the two schemes leave the gambling decision to the bank, and plenty of banks treat their Mastercard and Visa portfolios under different rules, sometimes because the portfolios were acquired at different times. It is quite normal to hold two cards from the same bank where one works at a casino and the other does not. If yours is the blocked one, Trustly bypasses the card networks entirely and reaches the same bank account.
Cost, in both directions
| Item | Deposit | Withdrawal |
|---|---|---|
| Amount floor | €20 | €25 |
| Speed | Instant | Hours to 3 business days |
| Fee from Slamz | None | None |
| Possible bank charge | Cash advance on credit cards | None in normal use |
| Currency conversion | Issuer rate if the card currency differs | Issuer rate again on the way back |
The conversion row deserves a moment. If your card is held in one currency and the Slamz balance in another, you pay a margin twice on a round trip, and the issuer's rate is rarely the best one available. Opening the account in the currency your card already uses is free and permanent; doing it after the first deposit generally is not possible.
Prepaid and virtual Mastercards
Prepaid and virtual cards deposit perfectly well and are popular with players who want a hard spending ceiling. The catch arrives at payout: many of them cannot receive a push payment at all, and a virtual card issued for a single use is gone by the time you win. If you deposit from one, register a bank account as the payout destination in advance so the refund-to-source rule has somewhere to send the money.
